Welcome to the Lion’s Den!
We are the Lions from the Shore, coming from Den Haag on the westcoast of The Netherlands.
Founded in 2015, Shorelions Sound was an initiative by MC Don Fayaaz, selector/DJ Avi Demus, MC D.Chesron and DJ IRG. Don and Avi were both former members of Apache Sound, also a reggae/dancehall soundcrew from Den Haag. The four bros teamed up and started this collective with the focus on a new chapter in music production and to create a place for musicians to have fun.
STUDIO WORKS
Nowadays, Shorelions mainly creates music at Studio Aggamuffin! Our signature sound blends traditional reggae/dancehall with influences from music like oldschool hiphop and jungle, but also the tropical vibes with genres like zouk, soca and reggaeton. With Don Fayaaz as the producer and the artist, there is always a Surinamese flavour involved.
LIVE PERFORMANCE
Shorelions Sound brings mostly reggae, dancehall and dub in the original ’80s and ’90s sound system style from Jamaica and the UK. Like back in the days, we operate with the selector (dj) and the MC. The selector turns on the heat with a variation of reggae/dancehall dubs, riddims and beats, influenced by roots, digital and the latest big tunes. As the selector brings the instrumental or dub version, the MC(s) is/are ready to ‘chant down babylon system’.
COLLABS
Music is fun, but even more fun with friends! Don Fayaaz regularly joins up with other artists and sound systems from all over the country. We have a strong bond with the Tjotjo Sound System and Green Heart Sound family from Alphen a/d Rijn, but also a rich history with sounds like Keytown Sound, Crucial Warrior Sound, Elephant Sound and many more. Don also still links up with the homie D.Chesron and producers like Mista Sweet from H3C (Haags Hiphop Centrum). So link up and let’s make some music together!
